Visit of minister David Clarinval to the AGC Technovasion Centre

How is the flat glass sector innovating for a sustainable future?

We would like to extend our warmest thanks to Mr. David Clarinval, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Employment, Economy, and Agriculture, for his visit to AGC’s Technovation Center in Gosselies.

This meeting was an opportunity to highlight the concrete efforts of the flat glass sector in terms of sustainability, innovation, energy efficiency, and competitiveness.

AGC Glass Europe is investing in ambitious projects:

  • Flat glass recycling: continuous improvement of processes and recovery of end-of-life glass for enhanced circularity.
  • Electrification and hybrid melting furnace: Volta pilot project with Saint-Gobain aimed at reducing CO2 emissions.
  • Carbon capture: carbon neutrality solutions under study.

These projects are essential to achieving climate goals. Their implementation and success depend on several key levers, such as:

  1. The time required for technological development
  2. A reliable and competitive electricity supply
  3. Optimization of anti-dumping procedures
Thank you to AGC’s management and team for their welcome, in particular Davide Cappellino, and to all the experts present for their enriching discussions.
