In May and September, AKT for Wallonia, together with Belgium’s industrial federations, Ministers of the Walloon Region Pierre-Yves Jeholet, Yves Coppieters, François Desquesnes and Cécile Neven, as well as representatives of the administration met for the Walloon Industry Forum.
The Walloon Industry Forum is an essential event for finding common solutions to the challenges facing our Walloon economy. In May, the central theme was: ‘Transition to a carbon-neutral economy within an economically sustainable framework’. This session enabled a clear agreement to be reached on the priority issues on which to move forward to ensure a competitive decarbonisation of our industries.
At the latest meeting in September, our Managing Director, Thomas Davreux, emphasized the key role that European legislation plays in the future of our glass, paper and board industries, and the importance for Wallonia to make its voice heard in the development, transposition, and application of these pieces of legislation.
